FAQs

Are you driving around Dubai? If so, you might encounter Salik, the toll system for some of the main highways.

But don’t worry, it’s easy to use! All you need is a tag on your car’s windscreen and an account.

We have discussed multiple times in our blogs that Dubai is strict about rules and regulations. Many fines might be imposed on you if you are not cautious.

For example, breaking the traffic rules results in black points as a penalty. You can check traffic fines online.

In the same way, forgetting to register or not having enough money in your Salik account can result in fines.

In this blog, we will talk about how to check salik fines and how to pay them.

Salik violations and their fines

Two types of violations result in salik fines.

Not having enough funds in your account

If your Salik account doesn’t have enough money when you pass through a toll gate, you might end up with a fine of Dh50 or more.

Here’s why: the toll system takes Dh4 from your account every time you pass through a gate. If there’s not enough money, you could be fined.

But don’t panic! You still get through the gate, but you need to top up your account within five working days.

If you don’t, you’ll be fined Dh50 for each day you’ve gone without enough money in your account. So, keep your Salik topped up to avoid any unexpected fines!

Unregistered Plate

If your car doesn’t have a registered Salik tag and you go through a toll gate, don’t worry, you’ve got time to sort it out! You have 10 days from the first trip to get a Salik tag.

If you don’t register within this time frame, here’s what happens:

  • The first time you use the toll gate after 10 days, you’ll face a fine of Dh100.
  • On your second trip without a tag, the fine increases to Dh200.
  • For every subsequent trip without a tag, you’ll be fined Dh400 each time.

We have understood why Salik fines are imposed now let’s discuss the many methods to check and pay them.
