How to renew Indian Passport in Abu Dhabi

Living abroad as an NRI can be tricky because you need to make sure your Indian passport stays valid. It’s important for traveling internationally and getting help from Indian consulates.

For those residing in Dubai, UAE, renewing an Indian passport is an easy process. The Indian Embassy’s Passport Seva service allows Indian expats to complete the entire application process online and submit it at the BLS International Centre, the outsourcing agency for processing Indian passport and visa applications.

In this blog, we will tell you how to renew your Indian passport in Abu Dhabi in 8 easy steps.

1: Visit the Passport Seva Website

  1. Visit the Passport Seva website
  2. Select the ‘Africa and the Middle East’ category.
  3. Choose ‘United Arab Emirates’ as your country of residence.

2: Login or create a new account

If you’re a new user:

  1. Click on “Register—Register to apply for passport services”.
  2. Fill in the required information, including your embassy or consulate, name, date of birth, email address, and password.
  3. Log in using your email address and password.

3: Apply for renewal of passport

  1. Click on the service ‘Register to apply for passport services’ again.
  2. Select ‘Application for applying for an ordinary passport’ and ‘passport reissue’ as the passport type.
  3. Choose the reason for a re-issue, such as ‘validity expired within three years or is due to expire’.
  4. Pick your preferred application type: normal or tatkal (urgent).
  5. Select the type of passport booklet: 36 or 60 pages.
4: Application and Family Details
  1. Enter your personal information, including your name, date of birth, place of birth, and marital status.
  2. Provide your contact information, including your email address and mobile number.
  3. Enter your PAN (Permanent Account Number) or voter ID (if available).
  4. Fill in your employment type, educational qualifications, and other relevant details.
  5. Answer the questions about criminal proceedings, convictions, and foreign citizenship.
  6. Provide your parents’ and spouse’s names (if applicable).
  7. If you are applying for a minor, enter their passport numbers (if available).

To enter address details:

  1. Enter your current address as printed on your passport.
  2. Use the Passport Seva website’s ‘Know Your Police Station’ service to find the closest police station.
  3. Select your state and district, enter the captcha code, and click submit to find the list of police stations in your area.
5: Fill in the details of the previous passport which are
  • Passport number
  • Date of issue
  • Expiry date
  • Place of issue

6: Answering the given questions in yes or no.

  • Any criminal proceedings?
  • Convicted by a court in India?
  • Ever denied or refused a passport?
  • Applied for or been granted foreign citizenship?
  • Returned to India on an emergency certificate (outpass)?

7: Review and submit the application

Carefully re-read all of the information you have provided to make sure all the details are correct. Then click on submit.

8: Visit the BLS International Service office

  1. Make an appointment online via the official website of BLS
  2. Gather the required documents
  3. Apply with the documents along with the renewal fees.

  2. Copy of UAE residence visa page
  3. Two passport-size photos (51mm X 51mm) with white background

  •  Adults (36-page booklet): AED 285
  •  Adults (60-page booklet): AED 380
  •  Minors: AED 190
